Playroom Update

I am starting to think that maybe the search for the perfect playroom is as illusive as the completed home. This weekend, I found myself yet again sitting in the armchair looking around the playroom thinking: “what’s next?”. I can paint, or make another something for the wall, or overhaul the chest of the drawers like I’ve been threatening to for a year. But then I realized that until I fully define the space I am not going to be happy with it.

A playroom can have so many different versions and functions that it can be quite difficult pinning down your exact requirements:

   schuelove1) a place of play, make-believe and dress-up

schuelove 22) a place to read

kirstenkrason_0175   3) to listen to stories and music

landofnod4) a place to build

project nursery5) a place to be creative

elmueble6) a family space where all of use can spend time together {we obviously don’t have TV otherwise this would’ve been the TV room!}

livesimplybyannie 27) a place for storing the multitude of kids’ paraphernalia that seems to find itself to EVERY other room in the house anyway…

Dream BoardSo at the moment, this is what it looks like in my head. Breaking it down like this and then building it up with pictures helps you to simplify what you want and to see how it will look. Looks like I’ll need that chest of drawers after all!

NOTE: my kids are still too little to need a homework space otherwise it could have also been part of the list.

  1. Enige idee waar mens “up and away” lugballone kan kry soos op jou foto. Het Pink and Posh se muurplakkers teen die muur… en beaded vliegtuie en “birdies” (my nuwe Julien se taal) mobile in die dak. ‘n Paar lugballone sal dit net mooi afrond…
